Alyssa Rapp, CEO

In January 2018, Alyssa J. Rapp became the CEO of Surgical Solutions, a health care services provider owned by private equity firm Sterling Partners 

 Starting in 2014, Alyssa also joined the ranks as a lecturer-in-management at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business teaching a course on the Global Dynamics of the Wine Industry.  

 From 2005-2015, Alyssa served as the founder & CEO of Bottlenotes, Inc., the leading interactive media company in the U.S. wine, craft beer, and artisanal spirit industries. During that time, she was named in Inc. Magazine's “30 Under 30” coolest entrepreneurs in America (September 2008). 

 Starting in 2015, Alyssa also has served as the Managing Partner at AJR Ventures, a strategic advisory firm for Fortune 500, $500MM+ privately-held companies, and private equity firms on their new business unit/new market development, digital and e-commerce strategies. 

 Alyssa earned a B.A. in Political Science and the History of Art from Yale University in 2000 and an M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business in 2005. At Yale, she earned the Frank M. Patterson prize for the best essay on the American political system for her senior thesis on public housing reform in Chicago. 

 Alyssa serves on the national Board of Trustees for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the country’s preeminent contemporary dance company, for Spark Program, an organization that provides transformative apprenticeships for middle school students in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Philadelphia. She is honored to have been appointed by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner to serve on the board of the Illinois Housing Development Authority. 

 When not immersed in business and civic life, Alyssa loves to run track, do yoga, ski fast, and try as hard as possible to decipher a slider from a curve ball from her husband, 1990 MLB World Series champion and current partner at X10 Capital, Hal Morris. Alyssa and Hal are the proud parents of Audrey Margaret Morris (born: September 12, 2012) and Henriette (“Hettie”) Daniella Morris (born: March 16, 2015). 

Anthony Dawson, RN, MSN, CCO & COO

Tony Dawson is a highly regarded Senior Health Care Administrator. His success lies in evaluating operations, strategic planning, and in leading the development/implementation of short-and long-term goals. Tony is valued for his ability to identify and implement the initiatives necessary for regulatory requirements, including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, The Joint Commission, and the Department of Health. His career with New York-Presbyterian (NYP) Hospital spans 25-plus years; he most recently served as NYP’s SVP Chief Operating Officer and, prior to that, as the VP Clinical Operations for Milstein Hospital and Heart Center. Tony holds an MSN, in Nursing Administration from Hunter College, and a BSN, Nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing, as well as a Diploma in General & Psychiatric Nursing from St. Michael’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Amy Davalle, SVP of Customer Experience

Amy is a seasoned medical device executive with more than 25 years of experience who is passionate about high growth, complex medical markets, building teams and developing others to reach their potential.  She has an undergraduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.  Amy has held various commercial positions of increasing responsibility from award-winning sales professional to leading a high performing team of more than 135 sales professionals as VP of Sales for both Regional and National sales forces.

Logan Derck, Director of Finance

Logan has a background in finance and accounting and spent the previous four years working in the finance department for Sterling Partners, a middle-market buyout private equity firm in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to that, he spent three years with EY’s assurance practices in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. Logan received a bachelor’s degree from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Science in Accountancy degree from the University of Notre Dame. Logan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Vladan Jovanovic, VP of Strategic Initiatives

Vladan is responsible for leading cross-functional strategic initiatives aimed at driving strategic growth, identifying operating improvements, and enabling operational scale. Prior experience includes M&A and strategic alternatives investment banking advisory with Moelis & Company, private equity investment theses development with Sterling Partners, Lake Capital & The University of Chicago Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship, and management consulting with The Delves Group (later acquired by Towers Watson). Tracy Wan, Consultant
Tracy is Managing Partner of TYW Consultants, a consulting and advisory firm that provides services to businesses to improve financial and operation performance.   Tracy brings her expertise in finance and operations to Surgical Solutions to drive, accelerate and implement the key initiatives to enhance results.
Jodi Levine, Consultant

Jodi Levine is an independent healthcare consultant, focusing on provider strategy, business development and managed care. With an undergraduate degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Rochester and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Ms. Levine has held leadership positions with a focus on driving growth across both provider and vendor organizations.
Most recently, she served as Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at Gateway Foundation, the largest not-for-profit substance abuse provider in the US. In that role, Ms. Levine reported directly to the CEO, built infrastructure for scalability, and managed marketing, sales and payer contracting.

Ancelmo Lopes, Chairman of the Board

Ancelmo Lopes currently serves as Executive Chairman of the Board of Surgical Solutions. He is a proven healthcare executive with over thirty years of experience in building and managing health care companies. He has held key senior executive positions and board seats across the healthcare industry with expertise in the payer market in general and the Medicaid payer sector in particular, as well as the hospital and health system sector, and physician practice solutions. He also serves on the board of PhyMed Healthcare Group (anesthesia and related services). He has held previous executive roles and board seats with the following companies: CEO, President and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Ameritox (toxicology lab for pain and mental health medications); Senior Vice President/Medicaid of Coventry Health Care (Medicaid managed care); Interim President and CEO of Saint Louis ConnectCare (BJC Health System’s community healthcare provider); CEO and President of Harmony Health Plans (Medicaid managed care); President of The Prudential Health Care Plan Mid-Atlantic Operations (payer sector); and Vice President of Johns Hopkins Health Plan (payer sector). In addition, Ancelmo has served on the boards of numerous community nonprofit, public policy, educational and professional organizations, and is a current member of the Economic Club of Chicago. He holds a B.S. in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Cherilyn Murer, Director

Cherilyn  G.  Murer,  J.D.,  C.R.A.,  is  the  President  and  CEO  of  CGM  Advisory  Group  LLC,  which  provides  strategic  business  planning  and  other  executive  services  to  businesses  and  organizations.  She  is  the  former  Founder,  President,  and  CEO  of  Murer  Consultants,  Inc.,  an  international,  legal-based  healthcare  consulting  firm  sold  in  January  2017.  Cherilyn  has  been  an  active  voice  in  the  advancement  of  quality,  cost-effective  health  care  and  higher  education  for  more  than  three  decades.  She  has  authored  seven  advanced  textbooks  on  healthcare  issues  and  published  more  than  180  scholarly  articles  in  trade  publications.  In  addition,  she  serves  on  several  corporate  and  nonprofit  boards  of  directors.  She  has  served  on  the  advisory  council  of  the  University  of  Chicago  Harris  School  of  Public  Policy,  was  appointed  to  the  Board  of  Trustees  of  The  Buck  Institute  for  Research  on  Aging,  and  served  as  chairman  for  the  Buck  Advisory  Council.  In  2017,  she  was  appointed  by  Governor  Bruce  Rauner  to  a  six-year  term  on  the  Illinois  Board  of  Higher  Education.  She  previously  served  for  12  years  on  Northern  Illinois  University's  Board  of  Trustees  where  she  was  elected  chairman  for  two  consecutive  terms  (2007-2009  and  2011-2013).  In  addition,  she  now  serves  on  the  Board  of  Lebanese  American  University  chartered  by  the  Board  of  Regents  of  the  State  of  New  York.  Ms.  Murer  graduated  with  a  B.A.  from  Lewis  University  and  received  her  law  degree  with  honors  from  Northern  Illinois  University  College  of  Law.

Jay Istvan, Director

Jay Istvan is the CEO of Suture Express, a mid-size, PE owned specialty distributor of surgical products headquartered in the Kansas City area. He brings 23 years of healthcare consulting experience and eight years of executive operating experience with The Boston Consulting Group, Bain and eLoyalty. Jay has an expertise in medical technology, distribution, and home health and has had extensive consulting leadership across the pharmaceutical value chain and in medical devices. He began his career as a Project Engineer at Abbott Laboratories in the Diagnostic division. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Bradley University, he completed his Master of Business Administration at Harvard Business School.

Steven Taslitz, Director

Steven  M.  Taslitz  is  Co-Founder,  Senior  Managing  Director,  and  Chairman  of  Sterling  Partners,  a  private  equity  firm  where  he  has  been  responsible  for  strategic  planning  and  investment  policy.  In  addition  to  overseeing  the  growth  and  investment  strategies  of  the  Sterling,  he  has  held  executive  roles  and  sat  on  the  board  of  directors  of  many  of  Sterling's  portfolio  companies.  He  serves  as  a  member  of  the  Advisory  Board  at  Ceres  Real  Estate  Partners,  is  a  Director  of  Laureate  Education,  and  was  a  Director  of  Atlantic  Premium  Brands,  Cognitive  Concepts,  Ameritox,  Educate  Online,  Meritas,  and  Progressus  Therapy,  LLC.  Additionally,  Steven  has  been  active  in  a  number  of  non-profit  organizations  and  educational  charities,  including  the  Illinois  Board  of  Higher  Education,  President  of  the  Glencoe  Educational  Foundation,  and  the  Investment  Committee  of  the  Jewish  United  Fund.  He  received  a  BS  in  Accountancy  with  Honors  from  the  University  of  Illinois.
